Kannada Sahitya Parishat Election on April 29

Yadgir: The election for the post of Yadgir Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat President will be held on April 29, at the Tahsildar’s offices of three taluk centers between 8 am and 4 pm. 

Speaking to Kakalwar News here on Monday, Election officer for the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, JavareGouda informed that as per final list of the voters which was released on March 14.

Yadgir Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat has 1,247 members from three taluks namely Yadgir, Shahapur and Surpur. Only those who are the members of the parishat for the last three years are eligible to vote during the election.

Giving details about the eligible voters in the district, JavareGouda said there were 1,247 voters in district (Yadgir – 596, Shahapur – 387 and Surpur 254).

Calendar of events
The nominations will be accepted from the election candidates at Yadgir taluk Tahsildar’s office from March 21 to 28, between 11 am and 5 pm. The candidates contending for the post of the State Kannada Sahitya Parishat President should have been the members of the Parishat for the last 10 Years.

While those contesting for the President’s post of the district or border area Kannada Sahitya Parishat should have been the member of the Parishat for the last five years, informed the Election officer.

The nominations will be scrutinized on March 31 at the Yadgir taluk office and the last date for withdrawing the nomination is April 5. Elections will be held on April 29, and counting will be done on the same day evening.

Identity cards
The Parishat has also made arrangements to issue ovter identity cards to all the voters.  Elaborate arrangements have been made to collect information about the voters through village accountants.

If the Village Accountants fail to locate the voters in their residence, then such voters Identity cards will be kept in the tahsildar’s office, which may be collected by the voters.

However, voter will be allowed to vote only if he possess the identity card. Soon after the elections, the Parishat has made arrangements to issue permanent identity cards.
