Yadgir: The Yadgir Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee
yard has been witnessing a record inflow of groundnut this season and groundnut
could be seen dumped in a wide area of the yard.
The farmers who had faced brunt in greengram and tur crops
have got a relief with the good yield of groundnut this season.
The
Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee has witnessed a record inflow of
groundnut this week and on Tuesday alone a total of 29,000 quintal groundnut
was purchased. This year the groundnut yield is also bumper and the price too.
Since past one week, the inflow of groundnut in the APMC
has been increasing, Everyday thousands of quintals of groundnut is being
brought for sale.
On
Monday 21,984 quintal, on Tuesday 29,099 quintal, Wednesday 18,005 quintal, on
Thursday 8,020 quintal, on Friday 12,060 quintal. However on Tuesday, the APMC
witnessed a record inflow of 29,099 quintal. It was for the first time in the
history of Yadgir APMC it witnessed such a massive inflow of groundnut in one
day, the APMC officials in formed.
The
groundnut purchase has been taken up since 45-46 Days. So far around Three-lakh
quintal groundnut has been sold in the APMC. As farmers have been showing much
enthusiasm to sell their groundnut yield when it has good price in the market,
the inflow has increased, they said.
We
have been getting from Rs. 4,500 to Rs. 5,200 per quintal groundnut. After
losing tur and greengram crops, the groundnut has rescued us. The groundnut
yield has also in creased this year, said a farmer Mahadevappa of Gurmitkal.
As heavy groundnut inflow is being seen in the APMC, the
shortage of place to store such a huge quantity is troubling the farmers. The
renovation work in the APMC yard has also been affecting the storage of
groundnut. Even in the main entrance also farmers could be seen waiting for the
readers to buy their groundnut.
